Confession: I've missed a few runs, and fallen behind in updating this blog. So I'm going to keep this short and sweet for two reasons: I can't remember anything too detailed since I've waited so long to write, and I need to get to bed before my long run tomorrow!
Today there was a new scene at the track: fire fighter practice. Yep, there were about a dozen young men in heavy rubber boots hauling extremely long fire hoses around the track, and laying them out perfectly flat to be reeled neatly onto the giant fire hose spool. I decided to get my photo with one of the fire fighters since we were learning about fire fighters at school - too bad he didn't have on the full uniform.
I did a short warm-up on the track, and let Heather M. continue on her way while I ventured over to the nearly finished Law School building. It has a nice sunken courtyard, complete with large bench-like steps and smaller staircase steps. Perfect for mimicking the uneven and varied steps to be found along the Great Wall.
At first I was ambitious and just repeated the same leg up, pushing steadily to the top and then switching on the next trip up. My thighs and butt were burning right away!! Then I changed it up and went at an angle so I could alternate legs on the way up - not any less pain, just more evenly distributed.
Heather joined me for the last set; a nice diversion to keep my mind off my aching muscles. What a great workout, but I can't say I'm looking forward to the next one!
