#15-17: Climb, Chat, & Jam

So, this is me playing catch up on the blog...

Last week was a light week with only two runs (oops!) but I tried to make each run count.  On Wednesday my pal Abby joined me at the main campus to run up and down the stairs with laps around the gym in between.  Even though the building is five stories the stairs are little baby stairs so it wasn't nearly as exhausting as I expected.  Still, we worked up a good sweat, and I got to introduce Abby to some awesome Texas country music.

Sunday morning is generally designated as a sleep-in day, but since another buddy Heather agreed to run with me I made an exception.  It was actually quite refreshing to bike on empty streets just after sunrise over to her apartment building.  We still had the roads almost entirely to ourselves as we ran to the big flower bouquet, over the bridge, and around the little park.  When we ventured into Yili Park it was crowded with old folks doing tai chi, men congregating around their bird cages, people dancing with their whirligigs, and a few fishermen perched alongside the lake.  I purposefully left my headphones at home for this run, and we were both rewarded with the "Wow, it's already been over an hour?!?" feeling you get when running with a buddy.  We're on for next week, without a doubt!

Today I lolligagged plenty (organizing my workout clothes drawer, polishing off the last chocolate truffles, putting away CNY decorations) before succumbing to my treadmill run.  I decided to just get the thing over with, and it turned out to be a super quick and enjoyable jaunt.  I cranked up my music to an almost unbearable volume, turned on the AC in the clubhouse gym, and ramped up the speed to a sustainable-but-not-too-slow clip.  I really love my running mix: Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, and Hall & Oates are sure to get that heart rate pumping!

The Fine Print:  Eh, who cares!  I ran some, and then ran some more.
